i was late for an hour to draw some blood from a patient who has a cardiac enyzmes requested. Will this make a difference in patients result?

Where I work as an MT we do cardiac enzymes in sets of 3. With the 2nd set being 3 hrs after the first and the 3rd set being done 3 hrs after the second set. Will it make a difference in the patients results? More than likely not. If you were talking about a therapuetic drug level than yes it would make a difference. The biggest problem would be the delaying of treatment if the enzymes are positive. If the enzymes are positive then that means the patient is more than likely having an MI.

I don't think it will make that big of a difference. I would usually be no later than 30 minutes. There's nothing you can do about it now, though. If, next time, you find that you're going to be late again, ask someone to get it for you. That's what I always did.
